The cultural context usually reduces to the artist’s strategies and intentions, during which case analysis proceeds along traces just like formalism and intentionalism. He argues that art isn’t solely a means of expressing the element of reality in a culture, but the means of making it and providing a springboard from which “that which is” could be revealed. Works of art aren’t merely representations of the way in which things are, however actually produce a neighborhood’s shared understanding.
